Hey y’all, so as of today, I find myself a little behind — not terribly, but behind nonetheless. I intended to have all six chapters of PMH done by march 22nd, but Monday (the 22nd) ran a little longer than the norm, and — as all my beloved introverts can tell you — that meant my brain was fried. So, I gave myself the rest of the day to relax and recharge and wrote the final chapter of March’s cycle yesterday.
This leaves me with good news and not-so-good news. Numero uno) I wrote Project Murder House chapters 25-30 in a little over a week! Cue the little girl shrieks and confetti! And numero dos) I’m a day behind in edits. However, as of this morning, there is an addendum: ch25 has already been edited due to its low word-count, which means I’ll be able to edit at least one more chapter today, which means I’ll be caught up, which means I have no reason to freak out lol.
This, then, has the promise of better news: I might actually be able to edit two chapters today AND tomorrow, which means I’ll be ahead of the game, which means I don’t have to stress as much and that I’ve improved as a writer in my ability to do effective work faster. All in all, I think that’s a pretty good forecast for the week . . . when did I become so optimistic? *shivers* It makes me feel happy and secure and proud of myself . . . I’m not used to this . . . I don’t know if I like it lol.
But, in all seriousness, I’m still pushing completion rather close to the Ultimate Week, so — after 2d edits are finished — I think I’ll give myself a day or two into the Ultimate Week before I start 3d edits. It’ll give me time to digest what I’ve done, distance my mind from the familiarity and let me see it more as a reader than writer. Not to mention, it’ll allow me time to work on OHMb2 or PA. I’ve missed writing in my other two projects so much. It’ll be so good to see my other characters and settings again — like taking a lovely vacation to Zombie-Florida or Cult-Maine from all the murder and death of PMH hahaha!
Now, topic change — smooth segue, I know.
Anyone who’s followed me for a while or knows me personally will probably know I create languages for fun and for my world/stories. So it should come as no surprise when I say I’ve been listening to a podcast about conlanging (constructing languages). In this podcast (Conlangery) other guest conlangers (creators of constructed languages) have repeatedly demonstrated their languages via their websites, and it got me thinking, “what if I did something similar?”
I’m not sure what it would entail to categorize multiple languages on my website, or even if it’s a good idea as this is meant to be a place for my writing journey and projects, but, if I focus on the languages in my stories, maybe it wouldn’t feel so distanced from my site’s usual content??? Even then, detailing a language’s grammar is no small task — even for a naming language — but then again, neither is writing multiple books at a time, so I’m up for the challenge. Or I may reserve this for YouTube videos and leave links in future blog posts. I don’t know, we’ll see.
Leave me a comment if that interests any of you, or if you have suggestions.
Alright y’all, that’ll it from me today! Keep writing, keep working, keep thriving! Bye!
