Become a Beta-reader…
I’m so glad you’re interested in becoming a beta-reader!
But first…what is a beta-reader?
A beta-reader is someone who volunteers to read an unfinished manuscript to look for plot related issues in order to help the writer / author improve their book-baby and bring it one step closer to being ready for publication. Beta-readers do not receive payment for their efforts, and, therefore, are greatly appreciated — plus, you’ll get to read a brand new story and be a pivotal gear in the engine of the writing process.
How to Become a Beta-Reader…
Submit your email address and social media for future communication.
Submit your name, age, and gender.
Submit a list of genres, books, and television shows you typically enjoy.
Submit the reason why you want to be a beta-reader.
Submit the manuscript title you would like to beta-read (if there is more than one manuscript).
What to Expect After Submission…
Once your submission is processed, expect to be contacted by Charlie via email, where he will explain in depth what to expect as his beta-reader. If, after this, you no longer wish to be a beta-reader, simply inform Charlie in a prompt, polite manner.
*Please be aware that all beta-readers should expect occasional check-ins from Charlie if you have not contacted him within a week of receiving an installment.
*If you are unable to perform your role as a beta-reader (for any reason) contact Charlie to inform him you would like to resign from your slot, or will late in reading the installment.
Each manuscript will have at least 3 beta-reading cycles. Each cycle has a minimum of 20 available slots. If the manuscript you are looking for is not available in the drop-drown box then all beta-reader slots are full for this cycle. However, if you would still like to read for that title then leave an additional note detailing that you would like to be listed for future beta-reading cycles. (If you do this, you should still expect an email from Charlie to explain the details of the process).
