In the not-so-distant future, Jason and his wife, Tara, work for a rapidly expanding company in Las Vegas, Nevada. They live in a comfortable home with their two young boys and have a normal life. But their normal life began to die a week ago, when fifty of their coworkers were brutally murdered on a company retreat, that Tara was supposed to attend. The culprits still prowl the streets. The city blazes with paranoia and lawlessness. All Jason wants is to get his normal life back, to relax with his family, to shut out the politics of the world beyond his four walls.
But a knock on his door would uproot normal forever as something supernatural breaks it down.
Faced with this new reality of magic, blood and war, Jason fights for the survival of his family and his own sanity. But with betrayal wrapped around his throat, and his body broken, he’s cast into a new world of darkness by the edge of a blade.
Servants to some eldritch creature tell him there’s no hope of return, but he refuses to accept a new life in their shadow world – no matter what it promises and no matter how hard it pulls him. He isn’t the first to be sent, nor the first to fight his fate, but he would fight to be the first to succeed and go back home.
Strength. Courage. Determination. These are all he thinks it takes to return home and protect his family. But is that the truth? Can he find a way home? Maybe.
